Chopin: Piano Concerto No. 2

In this video

Chopin wrote the piece before he had finished his formal education, at 19 years of age. This was his second piano concerto published and so it was designated as No. 2, although this was written before Piano Concerto No. 1.

Chopin wrote the work because he was impressed by his first lover, opera singer Konstancja Gladkowska. When the work was finished in 1830, he wrote a dedication to one of his later loves, Countess Delphine Potocka.

Composer: Frédéric Chopin
Artists: Paolo Giacometti (piano), Rotterdam Young Philharmonic & Arie van Beek
