J.S. Bach: Sonata in A Major for Violin and Harpsichord BWV 1015, Presto

In this video

The Presto movement from Bach’s Sonata in A Major for Violin and Harpsichord BWV 1015. Featuring Carla Moore, baroque violin; Hanneke van Proosdij, harpsichord. From the 2010 Bach Violin Sonatas Concert, performed on original instruments by San Francisco Early Music Ensemble Voices of Music. The sonatas for the equal pairing of harpsichord and violin by J.S. Bach are a defining moment in the history of the solo sonata, and are some of Bach’s most elegant and enduring works. The violin by Johann Georg Thir used in this performance is one of only a few baroque violins to have survived in a completely original and unaltered state, so that it is possible to hear how the instrument would have sounded in Bach’s time.
Voices of Music performs in and records our concerts in St. Mark’s Lutheran, SF.
